Hi, this is Sherlo.
Welcome to the House in the Mysterious Forest.
In this forest, it rains all year round. I wonder… will the sun ever shine here someday?
Now then, it looks like the boy and his grandpa are about to start talking again.
Let’s take a quiet peek into their conversation.
Are Your Dreams Fuzzy? The Unexpected Pitfall Blocking Your Goals
Grandpa(Clears throat loudly) Ah, Ken, my boy! Just the fellow I wanted to see. Come, sit. Grandpa has a tale to tell, a secret to unveil, a wisdom nugget to bestow upon your youthful, impressionable mind.

(Slightly exasperated, but curious) Grandpa, please. I just got here. And what’s with the dramatic flair? Are you trying out for a community theater production again? Last time it was “Death of a Salesman,” and you ended up selling all my baseball cards.

(Chuckles, a mischievous twinkle in his voice) Ah, a mere trifle, my boy! A small investment in your future, perhaps. Today, however, we delve into something far more profound than dusty old baseball cards. We’re talking about… dreams! Big, audacious, brain-bending dreams!

(Scoffs lightly) Dreams? Grandpa, I just want to pass Algebra II. My dream right now is to understand quadratic equations without my brain feeling like scrambled eggs.

(Waving a dismissive hand) Pish posh, Ken! Think bigger! Can you, right now, clearly and vividly imagine your ideal future? The one where you’re not wrestling with ‘x’ and ‘y’, but perhaps… flying to the moon? Or owning a fleet of self-driving robotic lawnmowers?

(Pauses, genuinely thinking) Uh… not really. It’s all kind of fuzzy. Like trying to see through a dirty window after a pigeon flew into it.

(Leaning in conspiratorially) Exactly! And therein lies the rub, my young grasshopper. If you can’t see it clearly, how can you ever expect to catch it? It’s like trying to find your socks in the dark. You know they’re somewhere, but good luck actually putting them on! Many people, surprisingly, can’t clearly envision their desires. And if you can’t, well, your wishes often remain just that: wishes. Like wishing for a unicorn to deliver your pizza. Nice thought, but highly unlikely without a clear plan!
The Success Secret: What Exactly is a Vision Board?

So, what’s the secret? Are we talking about some ancient scroll hidden in your attic, next to your collection of antique sporks?

(Winks) Better! We’re talking about a method so simple, yet so powerful, it’s like giving your brain a GPS for success. It’s called a Vision Board! And it’s as common overseas as writing down your goals on paper. Actually, even more so!

A vision board? Sounds like something my art teacher would make us do. Is it like a collage of happy puppies and rainbows?
From Homeless to Millionaire: Steve Harvey’s Vision Board Journey

(Laughs heartily) Oh, Ken, you always manage to bring a smile to this old man’s face! While puppies and rainbows are delightful, a vision board is much more. It’s a visual representation of your dreams, a future map, if you will. And many famous folks, the ones who went from zero to hero, actually used this very method to achieve their wildest aspirations!

Like who? My Algebra teacher?

(Shakes his head playfully) No, no. Think bigger! Like the great American comedian and entrepreneur, Steve Harvey! Now, there’s a man who knows a thing or two about starting from scratch. He was once homeless, living out of his car! Can you imagine? Sleeping in a car, probably dreaming of a proper bed, or at least a decent cup of coffee that wasn’t brewed over a campfire.

Wait, Steve Harvey? The guy with the suits and the game show? He was homeless? That’s… unexpected.

Indeed! But even then, he never gave up on his dreams. What changed his life, he says, was practicing the vision board. Now, he’s not just a comedian, but an entrepreneur, a bestselling author! He didn’t even hit it big as a comedian until he was 33! Before that, he was a salesman, a car mechanic… probably changed more tires than he told jokes!

(Chuckles) A car mechanic telling jokes? I can picture that. “Your engine sounds like my mother-in-law after a bad day… needs a tune-up!”

(Nods approvingly) Precisely! He says clearly visualizing your dreams is the key to changing your life. He’s given countless speeches on how his vision board transformed him. If your future feels as murky as my old fishing pond, then this, my boy, is your crystal ball!

So, it’s like… magic? Is this where you tell me about the power of positive thinking and crystals? Because I’m pretty sure my science teacher would have a fit.

(Waving a finger) Ah, Ken, always jumping to conclusions! While it might feel a bit spiritual, like finding a four-leaf clover in your cereal, there’s actually solid scientific backing to this! We’ll get to the brainy bits later. For now, just trust your old Grandpa. Have I ever led you astray? (Pauses, then quickly adds) Don’t answer that.
Your Step-by-Step Guide: How to Create Your Powerful Vision Board

Now, let’s talk about how to actually make this powerful tool. It’s simpler than assembling your Aunt Mildred’s IKEA furniture!

(Groans) Oh, no. Not the IKEA furniture. That thing still has a wobbly leg.
Step 1: Write Down 300 Dreams (Break Free from Limits!)

(Ignoring him) First step: Grab a piece of paper, and write down all your dreams and goals. Don’t worry about whether they’re achievable. Just let your imagination run wild! Like a squirrel in a nut factory!

So, like, I want a million dollars, a private jet, and to be able to eat pizza every day without gaining weight?

(Nods enthusiastically) Exactly! Or a huge mansion, travel the world, start your own company! Just let those desires pour out. Don’t worry about consistency or coherence. Just write, write, write! And here’s the kicker: Steve Harvey says to write down 300 dreams!

(Eyes wide) Three hundred?! Grandpa, I barely have three hundred followers on social media! That’s impossible! I’d run out of ideas after “get good grades” and “sleep in on Saturdays.”

(Chuckles) Ah, that’s the point, my boy! It’s not about actually hitting 300, it’s about forcing your brain to expand its horizons! If I said “write five,” your imagination would stay in its little box. But “300”? Your brain goes, “Whoa, okay, I need to get creative here!” And suddenly, you’re thinking of things you never even knew you wanted! Like a personal robot butler who also does your homework!

(Muttering) A robot butler… that actually sounds pretty good.
Step 2: Gather Images to Visualize Your Future (Watch Out for Distractions!)

(Grinning) See? Now, once you have your list, the next step is to gather images that represent those dreams. Magazines, Google, Pinterest – they’re your treasure chests! If you want to travel, find beautiful pictures of the countries you want to visit. If you want to be successful, find images of people you admire, or inspiring quotes.

So, if I want to be super strong, I should find pictures of… bodybuilders?

(Nods) Precisely! And as you search, imagine yourself actually having or doing these things. It’s like a mini-vacation for your mind! Just be careful. The internet is a vast and wondrous place, but it also has many… distractions. Focus on what you want to achieve. Don’t get sidetracked by, say, searching for “beautiful women” and accidentally ending up on… well, let’s just say, sites that are definitely not about vision boards. Your grandma once caught me looking at pictures of a giant, ridiculously expensive fishing boat, and she thought I was planning to run away to sea!

(Snickers) Oh, I can imagine. My friends and I have definitely gotten sidetracked on the internet before. Usually by cat videos.
Step 3: Design Your Dream Map (And Where to Display It!)

(Shakes his head) Cats are fine. Just… stick to the dreams. Lastly, design your board! Get a big cork board, or even a large sketchbook. Cut out your pictures, your words, and paste them on! The main thing is that it should be fun to look at every day. Make it colorful, put your favorite pictures front and center. There are no rules, Ken! It’s your dream board!

So, I can change it whenever I want?

Absolutely! Dreams evolve, Ken. Your board should too! Once it’s done, hang it where you’ll see it every single day. By your bed, above your desk, on the back of your door. My personal favorite: I used to make my computer desktop background my vision board. Every time I opened my laptop, boom! Dreams!

(Thinking) That’s smart. But… what if you live with other people? Like, what if I put up a picture of a super expensive sports car, and my dad sees it? He’d just laugh and tell me to get a job.

(Leans in conspiratorially, lowering his voice) Ah, Ken, you’ve hit upon a crucial point! This is where Grandpa’s wisdom truly shines! If you live with family, or a girlfriend, or a particularly nosy neighbor, a large sketchbook or notebook might be better. Because sometimes, my boy, there are dreams best kept… private.

(Confused) Why? What kind of dreams?

(Sighs dramatically) Well, for example, I once had a vision board with a massive mansion and, shall we say, many pictures of beautiful women. Not just one, mind you, but a whole hundred of them, all lined up, imagining them… (He trails off, then shudders) Let’s just say, your Grandma walked in, saw it, and I suddenly found myself on the receiving end of her trusty ladle! Right to the back of the head! So, yes, choose your display method wisely, depending on your domestic situation. A cork board for public display, or a secret sketchbook for your… more ambitious, shall we say, “personal” aspirations.

(Busts out laughing) Oh man, Grandpa! A hundred beautiful women?! That’s hilarious! I can totally picture Grandma with the ladle!

(Rubbing the back of his head instinctively) Not so funny when it’s happening, my boy! Not so funny. But the point is, your board, your rules. Just make sure it excites you.
The Golden Rule: Don’t Ask “How”! Just Believe!

Now, here’s the most important part, the golden rule of vision boarding: Do NOT think about how you’re going to achieve it!

(Frowns) What? But how can you achieve something if you don’t know how? That makes no sense. If I want a private jet, I need to know how to pay for it, how to fly it, where to park it…

(Shakes his head) Ah, the logical mind of a high schooler! Always trying to solve the puzzle before you even know what the picture is! If you start thinking “I don’t have enough money,” or “I don’t have enough time,” your motivation will plummet faster than my old dentures in a glass of water! Steve Harvey says, just dream big, and believe it will happen. The “how” will reveal itself once you start taking action. It’s like trying to navigate a dark room. You don’t know where the light switch is, but you take a step, and then another, and eventually, poof, there it is!

So, just… blindly hope?

Not hope, Ken. Believe! And dream like a child! Remember when you were little, and you’d ask for a Christmas present? Did you ever think, “Hmm, I wonder how Santa’s going to afford that new video game console? And how will he fit it down our chimney?”

(Grins) No, I just wanted it!

Exactly! That uninhibited imagination is crucial for your vision board. Don’t tell yourself, “I can’t afford a house that big,” or “I’m not smart enough for that job.” Those are self-imposed limits, like putting handcuffs on your dreams! Just imagine it. It costs nothing to fantasize, my boy! Nothing at all!

(Thoughtful) So, if I just keep imagining, the path will open up? That’s… a big leap of faith.

It is! But here’s the clever bit: when you keep looking at your vision board, imagining yourself in that future, something magical happens in your brain. Your brain, bless its cotton socks, can’t tell the difference between what’s real and what’s vividly imagined! It’s like watching a really good movie – you know it’s not real, but your heart still pounds! The more you repeat that image, the more it gets imprinted on your subconscious. And then, your brain starts looking for it! It starts searching for opportunities, clues, and pathways to make that image a reality.

(Intrigued) So, my brain becomes a dream-seeking missile?
The Science Behind the Magic: Your Brain’s RAS (Reticular Activating System)

(Snaps his fingers) Precisely! Which brings us to the scientific part, the part that will make your science teacher proud! It’s all thanks to something called the RAS – the Reticular Activating System!

The RAS? Sounds like a fancy car part.

(Chuckles) In a way, it is! It’s your brain’s personal filter. Every day, you’re bombarded with billions of bits of information. Your RAS decides what’s important and what’s just background noise. For example, have you ever decided you want to buy a specific car, say, a red sports car, and suddenly you see red sports cars everywhere?

(Nods vigorously) Oh yeah! I wanted those new sneakers, and suddenly everyone was wearing them!

That’s your RAS at work! It’s decided that information is important to you, so it brings it to your conscious attention. Creating a vision board is a super effective way to stimulate your RAS. By looking at those pictures and words daily, your brain starts prioritizing them. It makes you more sensitive to opportunities and hints that can help you achieve your goals. It literally changes your behavior without you even realizing it!

So, it’s like my brain is a super-spy, and the vision board is its mission briefing?
The Psychological Boost: Clarity, Motivation, and Unstoppable Self-Belief

(Beaming) An excellent analogy, Ken! And it’s not just neuroscience. Psychology also backs this up. Visualizing your goals doesn’t just make them dreams; it makes them concrete and clear. Saying “I want to be rich” is just a vague thought. But having a clear image of your dream house, your dream car, your dream life – that makes it actionable! This specificity, my boy, greatly increases your chances of success.

So, it’s not just about wanting it, it’s about seeing it clearly?

Exactly! And it also helps maintain motivation. Psychologists say that regularly reminding yourself of your goals keeps the passion burning. Life gets busy, dreams get forgotten. But seeing that board every day? It reignites that fire! It’s like a daily pep talk from your future self!

(Stretching, looking at his watch) Wow, Grandpa, this is actually… pretty cool. I always thought this stuff was just for motivational speakers in fancy suits.

(Winks) Well, I do have a fancy suit. And finally, vision boards foster positive thinking. By repeatedly imagining yourself achieving your dreams, your self-efficacy – that feeling of “I can do this!” – skyrockets! This positive self-image strengthens your brain’s action programs, giving you the drive to go after your dreams. Science, Ken! It’s all about the science!
The Final Secret: Why a Vision Board Alone Isn’t Enough (The Most Important Step!)

(Stands up, looking energized) Alright, Grandpa, I’m convinced! I’m going to make a vision board! I’m going to put up pictures of me acing Algebra II, getting into a good college, and maybe even… a robot butler!

(Nods proudly) That’s the spirit, my boy! Now, go forth and conquer!

(Starts walking away, then turns back) Thanks, Grandpa! This was actually really helpful. See ya! (He exits, perhaps with a faint sound of him humming a tune, maybe slightly off-key like Grandpa’s)

Well, there he goes. Young Ken, full of energy and new ideas. And that, my friends, is the power of a vision board.

So, what have we learned today? The key to realizing your dreams and goals isn’t just wishing upon a star. It’s about clearly imagining what you want to achieve. Successful people, the millionaires, the dream-chasers, they all had a vivid picture of their desired future, and reality simply followed suit.

We talked about the vision board – a simple yet incredibly powerful method to visualize your dreams. It’s just three main steps:

1. Write down your dreams – aim for that expansive thinking, like you’re trying to hit 300!
2. Gather images that represent those dreams.
3. Paste them onto a board, or a sketchbook if you need a little privacy from, shall we say, “curious” family members.

The most crucial part? Don’t get bogged down by how you’ll achieve it. Just remove all limitations from your mind. It might seem silly at first, but trust me. As you gaze at that board every day, imagining yourself living that dream, a strange thing happens. Your brain, unable to distinguish between reality and vivid imagination, starts to believe it. It activates your Reticular Activating System, making you notice opportunities you never saw before. It boosts your motivation and self-belief.

I know it sounds almost too simple to be true, but countless people have achieved their dreams with this method. I’m one of them. Years ago, I made a vision board with things that seemed absolutely impossible for me to attain. And yet, a decade later, almost every single one of them had come true. I’ve seen it happen with my friends too.

Making a vision board is actually quite enjoyable. It’s exciting to craft your future on paper. So, don’t dismiss it just because it’s easy. Give it a try. It truly is a highly recommended method.

But here’s one final, very important word of caution: A vision board alone won’t make you successful. It’s not a magic wand. What it does is spark inspiration. It gives you those “aha!” moments, those flashes of insight – that’s your subconscious mind, your brain, giving you a sign. And when you get those signs, my friends, you must act! Action is what truly changes you.
Before You Go
Did you enjoy your time here?
You’re always welcome to linger a little longer in this mysterious forest home.
If Grandpa and Ken’s words brought even a small spark of inspiration to your heart, then I’m truly grateful.
Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end.
Until next time, take care, and see you again soon.
